Cinnamon Swirl Rounds - 2/8/12

Basic Sweet Dough

3/4 C low-fat milk (I used regular 2%)
1/2 C sugar
1 1/4 t Salt
1/2 C butter
2 packages active dry yeast
1/3 C warm water
3 eggs (room temp)
5 1/2 - 6 1/2 C flour

Melting the first 4 ingredients 

Sweet dough ready! 

Cinnamon Swirl filling

1C brown sugar
1C sugar
1/2 C butter
1/4 C flour
1/2 C chopped walnuts

 

Dough rolled out 10x24 - cover evenly with cinnamon mixture 

Roll into a long tube and seal edges 

Inside the roll - cut into 24-1 inch pieces

Glaze

2 C powerdered sugar
1 t vanilla
2 T milk






Have a cup of coffee and enjoy!!!!!!


French Bread: 2nd attempt - 2/3/12

Same recipe as the 1st try but with my new French Bread Pan

French Bread: 1st attempt - 1/28/12

2 packages active dry yeast
2 1/2 C warm water
1 T salt
1 T butter melted
7 C flour


Before 1st rise 

After first rise :D 
Had to warm oven up to 100F due to my house being too cold.

Rolling the dough out 

2 rolls of french bread 

after 2nd rise 
Decided to get a french bread pan to make them round and not flat

Dinner served :D (Beef stew and french bread)

Chocolate Eclairs - 1/23/2012

Looking through my cook book I came across this recipe.  Never thought about making eclairs before because I have always thought they were hard and look a long time to make.  These, however, proved me wrong.

 clean out the soft insides



 Vanilla Pudding, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract = YUM

Chocolate frosting 




These are melt in your mouth yummy goodness...have them with a cup of coffee in the morning and you are off to a good start!

Gingerbread House - 1/17/2012

During Christmas this year I decided it was time to make a gingerbread house again. The last time I made one was when I was in elementary school.

It took me a long time to figure out what to do with the mansion and how I should decorate it, but now that it is done I'm happy with the finished product.
